We are interested in understanding the gene regulation and epigenetic mechanisms that control the changes in cell state in cardiovascular and skeletal muscle under both physiological and pathological conditions. Our current studies involve finding the key elements of a signaling pathway that control the gene expression under normal conditions, identifying various aspects of signaling perturbations under cellular stress including chromatin state, enhancer plasticity and transcription regulation, and discovering the ways in which these pathways can be targeted for therapeutic use.
